About Anthony Francis
Anthony Francis is a roboticist with over twenty-five years experience in computing for intelligent systems, including robotics, information retrieval, 3D object scanning, and more. His work in robotics has spanned emotional long-term memory for robotic configuration to behavior trees for multiagent control to deep reinforcement learning for robot navigation to benchmarking model-predictive control systems for social robot navigation. He and his team were awarded the Best Paper Award for Service Robotics at ICRA 2018 for their work on PRM-RL, a technique combining probabilistic roadmaps with reinforcement learning to achieve reliable long-range navigation.
